About

This website shows examples of Anthony Dickens' domestic furniture and product design. Anthony founded Studio Make Believe in 2015 - a studio consisting of designers, makers, product developers, brand strategists and behavioural experts - to create objects that solve problems for a growing number of international brands and organisations including Ben & Jerry's, Jose Cuervo, Finlandia, AB Inbev, Red Bull and Pernod Ricard.

Anthony founded his first eponymous London design studio in 1998 creating objects that express simple narratives and re-imagine the everyday things that surround us. Initially designing and manufacturing his own range of lighting, Anthony’s work has always been diverse, bridging the gap between product design and communications by creating objects with an 'active purpose' that solves a problem.

In 2006 he launched the Origami table, a range of dining, side and coffee tables. It won the Elle Decoration Best Table Award 2007 and is now produced by Innermost. His Anglepoise® Fifty, a light that encapsulated the Anglepoise® brand and story, was shortlisted for the Design Museum's Designs of the Year 2007 and is now part of their permanent collection.

The Around Clock for Lexon launched in 2006 and the Scoot pizza cutter for Joseph Joseph launched in 2010.

Tekio, an internal studio project that was also shortlisted for Designs of the Year 2013, was launched by Santa & Cole at Eutoluce 2017.
